Celebrate the
film’s release in fabulous styles inspired by Miranda, Charlotte and
Samantha

Sex and the City is undoubtedly the biggest fashion movie of the
year – if not the decade (sorry, Devil Wears Prada). Last week we
dished about how to duplicate Carrie’s outfits from the film…but you
didn’t think we’d leave out her best gal pals, did you? Samantha,
Charlotte, and Miranda all boast designer-saturated wardrobes that would
make any fashionista swoon, each tailor-made to reflect each character’s
wildly different personality. From ultra-girly sundresses to striking
graphic prints to in-your-face color (one guess as to which goes with
whom), we’ve found pieces that will help you master the signature style
of your favorite character. Now, are you a total Charlotte? A Miranda?
Samantha? Or just a girl, standing in front of a pair of Manolo Blahniks,
asking them to be 50% off?
Charlotte: Charlotte’s an unapologetic romantic with a weakness for
soft, feminine dresses and classic cuts. Polka dots, white eyelet,
flowers, and the occasional dash of pink all figure prominently,
resulting in a look that’s WASP by way of Fifth Avenue. Follow her lead
by looking for girly summer dresses like this strapless white
Bellina dress from Hollywould. The
Banana Republic Eyelet wrap dress,
Morgan McFeeters’ pink Eyelet Sundress, and
Eliza J’s Sleeveless Dot Dress are also pure Charlotte.
Lauren Conrad’s floral-printed tube dress may be called the
Samantha, but it clearly belongs in the York-Goldenblatt closet.
Finally, this
Kay Unger New York frock mixes two of Charlotte’s favorite things –
polka dots and flowers – to sweet summertime perfection.
Samantha: With a spotlight-inspired wardrobe that’s heavy on bright
greens, reds, and yellows, sexpot Samantha is sending all the right
signals. Ever the professional (you know, when she’s not sleeping with
her boss or the delivery guy), Sam favors bold, retina-burning power
suits that scream “I’ve got a head for business and a bod for sin.” It’s
all about sharp cuts, get-noticed hues, and a whiff of ‘80s influence.
Get the look in this smart and sassy
AK Anne Klein Short-Sleeve Jacket. Primary colors also rule outside
of the office, so punch up your wardrobe with vibrant pieces like
Rachel Pally’s blue and green Colorblock Top, the blue and white
Abaete Rita Strapless Dress, and
Calypso’s yellow and orange Victoria Dress.
Milly’s Zigzag Belted Pencil Dress accented with a bright blue
beaded necklace and a yellow belt will also help you achieve one of
Samantha’s signature looks.
Miranda: Our favorite redhead dazzles on screen in sophisticated
dresses emblazoned with strong graphic prints. (As with all the SATC girls, belts figure prominently, so
cinch your waist for extra polish. Copy her style in these dresses:
Nieves Lavi’s Silk Jersey Ming Dress;
Diane von Furstenberg’s Tuvallu Dress;
Cache’s Scroll Print Matte Jersey Dress; and
Alice + Olivia’s Printed Silk Dress. Add killer shoes and heels, and
you’re good to go. |
