Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Ah, Hawaii. It’s the land of
Brady-bashing idols, hula workouts, smoldering volcanoes, and, most importantly,
tempting tropical fashions best accessorized by a fruity cocktail served in a
coconut.
It’s also the setting for the
new Judd Apatow flick, “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” Kristen Bell plays the
eponymous character, starring as the girl who got away from heartbroken Jason
Segal, only to resurface with a new boyfriend and a killer tan on his Hawaiian
vacation.
And while your boyfriend
snorts soda out of his noise at the signature Apatow pratfalls, you can zoom in
on the beach-ready tropical fashions that Bell sports throughout the film. From
bold florals and exotic prints to skin-baring sundresses, the hot
Hawaii-flavored looks here may not get you any closer to Maui, but they’ll sure
look adorable at the local pool this summer.
To copy the look, make a
splash in
Mara Hoffman’s funky floral halter dress, which commands attention with its
brilliant yellow and purple print. The exuberant canary yellow of
Milly Cabana’s sheer Marmount Tunic Cover-Up is another poolside must,
perfect for slipping over a teensy white bikini.
If you don’t mind flashing a
little leg,
Rampage’s sexy, tropical Printed Halter Bubble Dress is a great way to
embrace the island look, or opt for
Trina Turk’s low-cut Bonita tunic dress, a floaty frock that screams “resort
chic.” For something a bit more “lei”-dylike, step out in
Diane von Furstenberg’s sophisticated riff on tropical style, a silky
goddess-esque day dress.
Beauty-wise, less is more.
Snag some self-tanner for a sexy golden glow, keep makeup soft, and let your
hair hang loose in flowing waves. And don’t forget that fruity cocktail—it will
come in handy when you’re fending off losers asking, “Wanna get leied?” |
