Must-Have Fall Shoes

I’ve barely made a dent on my summer tan and it’s already time to start thinking about shoes for fall.  Such is life in the fashionable lane. Picking your new shoes for autumn really depends on how you feel about the economy: are you being fiscally responsible by only buying one new shoe trend per season, or are you the type to dance in your fabulous Choos while Rome is burning?  Either way, here are some fantastic choices for the upcoming season.

TREND #1: Fringed Boots

The perfect shoe to compliment a Sienna Miller-inspired boho ensemble, the best fringed boots this season are black with a flat heel. Minnetonka Moccasin’s Lace Knee Hi Boot would look great with a mini skirt and opaque tights.  Jimmy Choo’s version is understated but perfect when paired with long skinny jeans.

TREND #2: Over-the-top Glam

Sometimes the only cure for economic ennui is a really fancy pair of shoes.  I love all of the details on BCBGirls’ Fairy including faux-snake skin and shiny gold lining. TREND #3: Open-toe Sandals Worn With Nylons

Once considered über-gauche, wearing nylons or tights with open-toe sandals has crossed over to über-fashionable. But take note, a high contrast between shoe and nylon is crucial to pulling off this look. Charlotte Ronson’s white T Strap Cork Platform Sandal would look fab with navy blue tights. Givenchy’s Open Toe Bootie with Bold Stacked Heel screams for a flash of color peeping out from the toes.

TREND #4: Boxy Heels

An excellent alternative for those of us who topple over at even the mention of a stiletto, boxy heels offer both stability and style.  For an evening shoe straight out of ‘Cabaret.’ Juicy Couture’s Macie Too Open Toe gold T-strap sandals are perfect for a dancing queen.  Another, more conservative option, Chloé’s D Buckle platform pumps are both posh and comfy.

While new fall shoes are a necessity, there’s only must-have item this fall:  A voter registration card.
