Hot Men’s Glasses (Testosterone Sold Separately)

By Alisa Welch
June 9, 2008

A male friend of mine went shopping for new eyeglasses the other day and found a pair of black Armani frames that suited his features well. To make sure he couldn’t find a better price for the glasses online, he Googled his new goggles and discovered that they were *gasp* actually women’s frames.  He immediately returned the glasses. This tale also reminded me of an old Seinfeld episode where George loves his new glasses—until he finds out that they are for women.

Evidently, the average man’s search for eyeglasses is fraught with questions of gender and concerns about their own masculinity. Geez, you’d think we’d asked them to try on a pair of pantyhose! Nonetheless, in an effort ease their eyewear anxiety, here are some of our favorite masculine eyeglass styles.

Strong features call for strong frames such as Perry Ellis’ ‘219’ that combines a classic Clark Kent shape in a modern tortoise shell finish.  Men who hear the call of couture are sure to love Dolce & Gabbana’s D&G line of stylish spectacles including the Italian-inspired brushed-steel frames featured on D&G ‘5034’. Oakley’s Voltage 2.0 series of glasses come in four elegant colors without sacrificing a bit of their sporty appeal.

A good pair of glasses (like a good man) is truly hard to find, so if the pair you love happens to be for a lady, just go for it.  No one will ever know (and we promise never to tell).
