Even the strictest vegan fashionista can go weak at the sight of a pair
of supple leather slingbacks, but a new line of footwear from
Cri De Coeur promises to bring eco- and animal-free design to
fashion’s front line. Founder Gina Ferraraccio
attended Parson’s School of Design and after years of searching in vain
for footwear that was both animal-friendly and super stylish, she
launched Cri de Coeur.
Of course, all of the do-goodery in the world wouldn’t matter if there
were no style to back it up, but thankfully, Cri de Coeur delivers.
Their debut collection includes decidedly feminine shoes made from
unexpected materials such as a suede-like microfiber and canvas. We love
the gorgeously understated
Chloe peep-toe flat made of crisp blue chambray as well as the sexy
yet comfortable
Sierra peep-toe sandal. Prices are cruelty-free as well; prices
range from $120 to $250.
Determined to do more than simply make shoes,
Cri de Coeur
has also partnered with
thecarbonfund.org to offset all unavoidable carbon emissions and will
plant a tree for every pair of shoes sold. Now that’s tree-hugging with
style.
